Buttermilk Chocolate Cake Recipe
 
What You Need
• 2 cups flour
• 2 cups sugar
• 1 cup water
• 1/2 cup Crisco shortening
• 1 stick margarine
• 4 tablespoons cocoa
• 1 teaspoon milk
• 2 eggs
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 1/2 cup buttermilk

Icing
• 1/3 cup sweet milk
• 3 1/2 tablespoons cocoa
• 1 stick margarine
• 1 cup chopped nuts
• 1 box powdered sugar
• 1 teaspoon vanilla

What To Do
1. Preheat oven to 400F. Prepare 13x9x2 baking pan by greasing and flouring.

2. Sift flour and sugar together.

3. In a saucepan, add water, shortening, margarine, vanilla and cocoa and bring to a boil, stirring frequently. When mixture begins boiling, remove from heat and pour over flour and sugar.

4. In a separate bowl, mix eggs, baking soda and buttermilk, then add to main mixture.

5. Pour batter into prepared pans and bake 25 minutes. Apply icing while cake is warm.

• Icing: Combine sweet milk, cocoa and margarine in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla, mixing well. Remove from heat and mix in pecans. Pour over cake soon after cake comes out of oven.
