Neiman Marcus Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe
The Neiman Marcus Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe is one of the most famous because it is the subject of an urban legend. According to the urban legend, a customer at a Neiman Marcus department store was enjoying a "Neiman Marcus cookie" in the in-store cafe. She asked for the recipe and was told it would cost "two fifty." Assuming that to mean $2.50, she said she'd pay ... only to find out the store actually charged $250 for its "Neiman Marcus cookie recipe." The manager refused to waive the fee, so the woman swore revenge - she set out to share the "Neiman Marcus cookie recipe" with as many people as possible.

The problem with this story is that it's not true. In fact, when the story about the "Nieman Marcus cookie recipe" first started going around, Neiman Marcus didn't even have a cookie recipe! They created one in response to the urban legend. And, needless to say, Neiman Marcus doesn't charge for its chocolate chip cookie recipe - in fact, it's posted on their website for all to see and copy. So we have. So, without further ado, here is the Neiman Marcus chocolate chip cookie recipe:

What You Need
• 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
• 1 cup brown sugar
• 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
• 1 egg
• 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
• 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
• 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1 3/4 cups flour
• 1 1/2 teaspoons instant espresso powder, slightly crushed
• 8 ounces semisweet chocolate chips

What To Do
1. Cream the butter with the sugars until fluffy.

2. Beat in the egg and the vanilla extract.

3. Combine the dry ingredients and beat into the butter mixture. Stir in the chocolate chips.

4. Drop by large spoonfuls onto a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes, or 10 to 12 minutes for a crispier cookie. Makes 12 to 15 large cookies.
