What You Need
8 cups sliced, pared apples
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1/4 cup flour
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 10-inch unbaked pie shell
6 oz. sharp Cheddar cheese, shredded
Crumb Topping
1/3 cup butter
2/3 cup flour
1/2 cup brown sugar
What To Do
1. Preheat oven to 425F.
2. In a large bowl, add lemon juice to apples and stir to coat.
3. In a separate bowl, mix flour, brown sugar, nutmeg and cinnamon, then add to large bowl. Stir well to coat.
4. Turn ingredients into pie shell. Sprinkle cheddar cheese over top. Spoon crumb topping over cheese, making sure to completely cover cheese (otherwise it will burn).
5. Bake 30-35 minutes or until bubbly and golden brown. Serve warm.
Crumb Topping: Mix flour and sugar; cut in butter until mixture is crumbly.
