This Apple Pie recipe makes 8 servings.
What You Need
1 large egg yolk, slightly beaten
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 Graham cracker pie crust
5 1/2 cups sliced, peeled cooking apples
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
1/3 cup butter at room temperature
1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
What To Do
1. Preheat oven to 375F.
2. Brush bottom and sides of prepared pie crust with egg yolk and bake on baking sheet for 5 minutes. Remove crust from oven.
3. Combine slided apples, lemon juice, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/4 cup brown sugar, 3 tablespoons flour, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Mix well and spoon into crust.
4. Mix remaining ingredients with fork or pastry cutter until crumbly, forming a topping. Sprinkle topping over pie filling.
5. Bake on baking sheet approximately 50 minutes. Allow to cool on a wire rack before serving.
