What You Need
7 medium Golden Delicious apples
1/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons flour
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon ground mace or cardamom
1 teaspoon vanilla
Pastry for two 9-inch crusts
2 tablespoons butter
Cream
What To Do
1. Preheat oven to 425F.
2. Core and thinly slice apples to equal 7 cups.
3. Stir in apples and vanilla, and place into pastry-lined 9-inch pie plate.
4. Dot with butter, then cover with top crust.
5. Seal and flute edges and cut vents into top. Brush with cream.
6. Bake 50-60 minutes.
