What You Need
1 9-inch pie crust
1/2 cup sugar
3 tablespoons flour
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
5 cups sliced and pared tart apples (about 5 medium apples)
Crumb Topping
1 cup flour
1/2 cup firm butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
What To Do
1. Preheat oven to 425F.
2. Mix together sugar, flour, nutmeg and cinnamon, then stir in apples to coat.
3. Turn into pastry-lined pie plate. Crumble the crumb topping on top of apple mixture.
4. Bake 50 minutes. Cover topping with aluminum foil during last 10 minutes. Serve warm.
Crumb Topping: Mix ingredients until crumbly.
