This French Apple Pie recipe yields 8 servings.
What You Need
1 prepared 9-inch pie shell
2/3 cup sugar
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Dash of salt
8 cups thinly sliced and pared tart apples (about 8 medium apples)
Crumb Topping
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup firm margarine or butter
What To Do
1. Preheat oven to 425F.
2. Mix sugar, flour, nutmeg, cinnamon and salt in large bowl, then stir in apples.
3. Toss to coat apples, then turn into prepared crust.
4. Sprinkle crumb topping over filling.
5. Bake 40 minutes, then cover with aluminum foil and bake 10 more minutes. Serve warm.
Crumb Topping: Mix all ingredients in medium bowl until crumbly.
