What You Need
4 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon shortening, melted
1 egg
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup cornmeal
What To Do
1. Preheat oven to 425F.
2. Grease baking pan and place in oven to heat.
3. Sift dry ingredients together.
4. Melt shortening.
5. Beat egg, then add to buttermilk. Pour this mixture into dry ingredients and stir only until mixed.
6. Add melted shortening; immediately pour into hot pan.
7. Bake for 25 minutes.
